Finance Committee of UUCRV
NAME OF GROUP Finance Committee Purpose of Finance Committee: Finance committee shall review the Church organization's financial status, and oversee the budgeting process Responsibilities of Committee: 1. Maintain financial records 2. Pay bills 3. Report the monthly financial status to the Board of Trustees 4. Prepare budget for the Board of Trustees' approval 5. Consider special fund raising and special spending requests 6. Arrange for a regular audit of the financial records Responsibilities of Committee Members: 1. All members participate in meetings 2. Committee Chair: notify participants of meeting time, prepare agenda, monitor progress of committee projects/ assignments, and lead meeting Qualifications of Committee Members: 1. Have knowledge of financial management requirements 2. Membership in UUCRV 3. Ability to work as a team 4. Ability and willingness to give support to other committee members and congregates 5. Board Treasurer is a member of the committee 6. Financial Bookkeeper is a member of the committee Amount of Time Required: Average 4 hours per month (one meeting per month, plus preparation time) When Ministry is Required: Committee meets once a month (the time and place is up to the committee) Length of Commitment: Two church fiscal years Training Provided: 1. Initial orientation provided by committee chair 2. Training as needed from external UUA programs Responsible To: Board of Trustees Support Provided: 1. The support and encouragement of other members of the committee 2. The personal and professional support of the congregation's minister 3. A response to your request for training and/or information that you believe is needed to fulfill your position and make it a rewarding and growth-filled one for you 5. Welcome and respect for your suggestions and opinions regarding the committee and total ministry of the congregation 3-20-06 |
